Diagnostic assessments with Vicandas Psychology

At Vicandas Psychology we offer diagnostic assessments for autism, ADHD and Intellectual Disability. All assessments are carried out by appropriately qualified and registered healthcare professionals. In order to our maintain clinical standards and quality, assessments are discussed in a multi-professional context and we hold regular clinical supervision in line with professional guidance. Where face-to-face appointments are required, these can be carried out in clinic, at school or in the family home based on the needs of the client.

Autism assessment

We are able to carry out autism assessments with children and young people between the ages of 5 and 25 living in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire. We ask that there is a parent or caregiver involved who is able to contribute to the developmental interview.

Vicandas Psychology autism assessments include the following:

  • Completion of additional, autism specific questionnaires
  • Gathering of additional information from school or education provider
  • Individual observation / interview (ADOS-2)
  • Developmental History (ADI-R)
  • Feedback appointment
  • Full report detailing assessment findings and diagnostic outcome

ADHD assessment

ADHD assessments are offered to children and young people between the ages of 7 and 25 years of age. living in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire. For younger children, we ask that there is a parent or caregiver involved who is able to contribute to the developmental interview.

Vicandas Psychology ADHD assessments include the following:

  • Completion of additional, ADHD specific questionnaires
  • Gathering of additional information from school or education provider
  • Individual standardised ADHD assessment (Qb Check)
  • ADHD interview (DIVA / Young DIVA)
  • Feedback appointment
  • Full report detailing assessment findings and diagnostic outcome

Please note that Vicandas Psychology is not a psychiatric service and, consequently, we are unable to prescribe or to advise on medication. Families and individuals who wish to pursue medication options in the event of a positive diagnosis will need to discuss this with their GP or other suitably qualified medical professional.

Although we take every effort to complete thorough and clinically robust assessments, your doctor may wish to complete further assessments before prescribing.

Intellectual assessment

We are able to carry out assessments of intellectual ability with children and young people aged from 6 to 18 living in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire. For younger children, we ask that there is a parent or caregiver involved who is able to contribute to the assessment process.

Vicandas Psychology intellectual ability assessments include the following:

  • Completion of additional, learning specific questionnaires
  • Gathering of additional information from school or education provider
  • Individual cognitive assessment (WISC-V / WAIS-IV)
  • Adaptive behaviour assessment (Vineland-3)
  • Feedback appointment
  • Full report detailing assessment findings and diagnostic outcome

Combined neurodevelopmental assessment
